How to Keep A “Long Distance Love” Alive

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

The hardest love to fall for is long distance love. Relationships are hard work, but when you add distance between the two of you it can become even more complicated. Long distance relationships are quite common these days as the Internet brings people together from all over the world.

Being in a long distance relationship can be very difficult and confusing. All relationships take work, but long distance relationships take a bit more work in the way of communication, compromise, and understanding. Many people believe that long distance relationships cannot work. It’s true that a large number of long distance relationships fail, but this is true of relationships that do not deal with distance as well.

Long distance romances can work; they just need a little extra effort and some planning.  What many people don’t realize is there are many benefits to being in a long distance romance. When you understand how fortunate you are to have someone at the other end, willing to go the distance, you won’t waste another minute pining away for your lover.

The truth is, long distance relationships, like all relationships come in many shapes and sizes. There are challenges to maintaining a long distance relationship to the satisfaction of both partners.

Long distance relationships involves two people who share an interest in each other lives,  care for one another and of course have a love for each other that they hope will only continue to grow. On the other hand, a long distance relationship requires a special willingness and understanding that can test love like no other type of relationship can. It requires constant communication and a desire to continually create your relationship, using the only real tool you have… your words

The most difficult thing to deal with in a long distance relationship is the most obvious thing: the distance. Here are some ways to endure the long distance: play cards or games over the internet or watch a movie “together” by renting the same movie, start at the same time and talking on the phone, made gifts for each other, create a list of things to do together, send lots of cards and e-cards.
This will definitely help to make your relationship work.

One of the first keys to success in a long distance relationship is effective communication. It is important for both persons to feel that they are an active part of the others’ life. This is best accomplished through communication. Email, web cams, and digital pictures can diminish distances, but nothing replaces the intimacy of hearing your partner’s voice. No relationship lasts without communication. Pick up the phone every day and chat with your partner for 15 minutes, at least. Just let them know that you’re thinking about them and you miss them. Everyone loves this.

Long distance relationships can work; it just takes the commitment of both people for it to last. Both people involved have to be committed to communication, whether it is through the phone, through emails or written letters. Communication is something we all take for granted when we are in the presence of one another, but when you are dealing with a long distance relationship you do not have the benefit of body language to help guide you. Communication is the key to making these relationships work.

Trusting the person at the other end of a long distance relationship can be difficult. People often have a hard time believing the words that are passed along during phone conversations if they can’t actually see the source, or unless they truly trust the source.  Without trust and honesty, the relationship is in danger just as it would be any other relationship. By accepting the challenge of a long distance relationship, you also accepted the fact that you will have to have the trust and faith that your partner will not be seeing anyone else as promised.

Photos are very important. Since you two can’t be together physically, photos will have to work. Take some fun photos of yourself and send them, sealed with a kiss, to your honey.
Also, to keep your magic love alive, plan a visit. Promise that you will visit her and keep that promise. This will make her feel happy.

There are days when you feel lonely. There are moments when you long for a touch instead of a call. Still, you bond endures. Whether separated by an ocean or an outlook, the shortest distance between two hearts, it is said, is love.

Happiness In Dating

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Integrating two lives in any environment is at best a challenge. Integrating two lives that are in separate turmoil, on separate paths, and with separate ideas about life does not a magically make a happy existence. Relationships are constant work.

However, dating is the lightest level of being in a relationship and should be taken as such. You are not yet making mortgage payments with your date partner or raising children together so have fun and enjoy the whole experience.

Dating is the part of life that allows you free access to discovering the types of personalities that appeal to you in the opposite sex. Every date you engage in will not be a spectacular experience but if you learn something new or verify something you’ve touched on in the past from each date then it can’t be considered a total loss. You have to consider that dating opens your mind to new and exciting activities and it also prepares you for serious relationships.

Gone are the days whereby you are considered, as a woman, loose or promiscuous if you date a few men at once or many men overall in your dating career. And gone are the days where men feel pressured to take the first step toward initiating contact, plan the date, and pay for everything. The world of dating has encountered a silent solid revolution and as the perfect revolution goes no one was killed but improvements were established.

If you are a young participant in the dating world you may not even realize “we’ve come a long way baby” but as the new years will assuredly bring forth new and improved dating tips, secrets, and general etiquette the younger generations will see their own revolution occur.

As for the more mature participants (and this can include individuals well into their seventies) in the dating scene you have seen many changes. Maybe some of the changes have brought slight turmoil to the table of dating. But so many more of the changes must make you feel good to be alive, adventurous and vibrant. That is why communication with your date is imperative. Odds are you are dating a person close to your age. It is likely they recognize and feel as awkward with the changes as you.

Communication is important in all relationships. Dating is no exception. Honesty and integrity are important also. You don’t have to lay your whole life on the line to date, you simply have to set aside some quality time to indulge in meeting new people, experiencing new and old pastimes, and be a person that gravitates toward the happiness we as humans so often neglect.

What Do Women Really Want In Dating

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Men and women often want very different things from dating. For example, you may not be thinking much beyond the fact that you found her attractive and – yikes! – she agreed to go out with you. On the other hand, she may already be sizing you up as a potential long-term relationship and the appetizers haven’t even arrived yet. What is that women want from dating, anyway?

1. Romance. It’s exciting to meet someone new, discover that they like you, too, and go out on a date. Women adore romance, and they love the endorphin rush they get from anticipating a romantic encounter. So feed her need for romance – bring her flowers, or a CD of her favorite band, or take her on a romantic picnic. Be a gentleman and open doors for her, and compliment her freely. A few kind words about her dress or her hair will be go a long way, as will as your hand gently places on the small of her back when entering the restaurant. As hokey as it sounds, even kissing her hand, if done at the right time, will be an impressively romantic gesture and not as goofy as it sounds.

2. Laughter. The way to a woman’s heart is through her funny bone – in surveys, women consistently say that the thing they find most attractive about a man is a good sense of humor. She wants to have a good time on a date, so laugh it up! If you’re going to a movie, pick a good comedy. Or pick a venue for your date that offers plenty of chances for shared laughter, like a county fair, or the zoo, or miniature golf. The things that you laugh about on your dates will become treasured memories down through the years, should you end up in a long-term relationship. If you can be silly together, that’s a great step in the right direction for a love that will last.

3. Imagination. Everybody goes out for dinner and a movie. What do you have to offer that’s different? Take her to a carnival and ride the ferris wheel, or go for a hike in the mountains or horseback riding. Just make sure that you tell her what you have in mind, so she can dress appropriately – if she puts on a nice dress and her best stiletto heels and you take her to a clambake, she’s not going to have a very good time. But if she’s dressed for the occasion and you come up with something special, you’ll impress her with your adventurous, creative personality, and she’ll want to keep dating you to see what else you’ll come up with!

Ask your friends for advice on interesting things you can do on dates, if you can’t think of anything. And check the local listings in your newspaper for events that are happening over the weekend – there are always things like cooking classes and city tours that makes for interesting, exciting alternatives to the same old date nights.

4. Mutual interests. The main thing that anyone wants from a date, either male or female, is companionship. Nothing feels better than finding someone who shares the same interests as you, whether it’s books, movies, arts or a hobby.

Once you find out what the two of you have in common, you can tailor your dates to enjoy your shared interests. Why do the usual dinner date when you can instead enjoy a trip to the museum to see a traveling exhibit of Impressionist paintings, or to a late-night horror movie full of zombies and gore. Spending time together sharing something that you’ve each enjoyed individually creates an additional bond, as with shared laughter, mentioned above. Something that you’ve enjoyed on your own is also enjoyed by this other person – how special is that? Whatever will help the two of you bond, that’s what she wants from dating, so it’s what you should do.

5. A possible future. Face it, women date because they’re looking for a man that they’ll eventually marry. That’s why they care whether you have a job, and a car, and don’t live in your parents’ basement. It’s why they melt when they see you give your nephew a piggy-back ride – they’re imagining what a great dad you’ll be when the two of you have children of your own.

You may not be thinking that far in the future, but she is. And even if she’s decided that you’re in the “fun to date, but never marry” category, don’t think for a minute that she hasn’t spent your dates sizing you up as a potential mate.

Tips for a Perfect Valentine’s Day

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Every year at 14th February all across the world we’re celebrating Valentine’s Days in the name of love and romance. Many flowers and romantic gifts are exchanged between loved ones showing each other their feelings.

Love is a special feeling and so it must be expressed in an extraordinary way. Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to express your feeling and to propose your loved one.  Everyone knows that the perfect proposal is convoyed by the perfect gifts. Valentine’s Day gifts are most important to express your heartfelt feelings and to make your day memorable in its way.

Receiving a Valentine’s Day gift is a magical experience. It makes people smile, happy. The person that offers a gift in this special day wants to show that he cares about the other.

With Valentine’s Day not too far off, it’s never too soon to start thinking about making special plans for your loved ones. Whether it is a special gift, romantic date, or even a poem you wrote.

On Valentine’s Day it is very important to show your love to your partner and make her feel special. Here are some ideas which might help you.

If you want to have a romantic day you should start by cooking a favorite meal, a dinner for two. The color, flavor and smell food play an important part in a successful romantic meal.

Valentine dinners should be special. Choose your sweetie’s favorite foods and surprise her with a wonderful romantic meal and a special table set for two. Use your most delicate china and crystal. A few candles, a small bowl of fresh flowers, some heart shape cookies, and a bottle of wine or champagne will complete the atmosphere.

On Valentine’s Day decorations speak the heart for you! So all you have to do this Valentine’s Day is to make the ambiance irresistibly romantic and set the decorations warm, snug and lovely. Valentine’s Day decorations can be done with flowers, ribbons, candies or just with paper and cloth.

No matter which way you do it, the decorations for Valentine’s Day should just be perfect and help set the stage for a memorable celebration. The first thing that should be kept in mind before laying your hands on Valentine’s Day decorations is that red or shades of red is the color to go for. So make sure you have lots of red, crimson or pink around.

If you want to spend this day at home, you can sprinkle rose petals around the house. Place heart-shape candles around your home to create the right mood.

Buy her flowers. Most preferred in this day are roses, especially the red ones. Red roses can mean a lot of things, they say, everything from courage to respect, but around this time of year they mean one thing - sincere love. Other times of the year, a single red rose will do the trick, but play it safe with a dozen at Valentine’s Day.

Hide love letters - write a bunch of love letters and stash them in places your mate typically looks.

I love you is a powerful phrase and saying I love you is a big step in any relationship. Learn the right time to say I love you and give yourself the best chance of hearing “I love you too!”

As a gift you can take her a perfume or even lingerie. But if you take her only lingerie she will think that the only think you want from her is sex. In that case don’t forget about flowers or sweets for you sweetheart.

Jewelry is always a favorite for woman. You can take her some diamonds, earrings, or just buy a heart-shaped locket and put a picture of yourself in it. Personalize the locket with your loved one’s initials so she’ll have something to wear that’s hers alone.

Wherever you choose to spend this beautiful day with your partner remember to make her feel special, to create that magical atmosphere, a day that she’ll never forget.

Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Meeting Hearts Online

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Sounds strange though, but yes, this is a fact. Earlier there was a tradition where both the boy and the girl were introduced with the family in the girl’s house. Then both of them would spend some few minutes to understand each other and if they like each other, then both the family would congratulate each other and distribute sweets. Then they would make all the preparations for the wedding. Gone are those days. Now people can choose their partner from the comfort of a chair. Just one click away and they are able to search for profile and that too with photos. What’s more, they can even search their background/values, likes/dislikes, proximity and the list is endless. After they chat for long hours they actually meet each other in a public place and if they find that their thoughts and approach to life to be similar, they give a thought of tying the knot with the like-minded person.

There are many advantages of online dating. It is much cheaper and there is a huge scope and this is the reason why we find more and more people joining the dating services from every nook and corner of the world. It is a different feeling or joy that you derive by finding the love of your life.

There are people who have actually been successful finding their long awaited life partner of their choice. We can see the comments by different people in different dating sites where they speak their heart out relating how they met online and got happily married.

Now you must be thinking how successful the online dating is. Does this relationship last long? Dr Jeff Gavin carried out a survey on online dating. He said: “Given that the most successful relationships lasted at least seven months, and in some cases over a year, it seems that these relationships have a similar level of success as ones formed in more conventional ways”.
